Local Women Magazine is all about celebrating the contribution women make in Northern Ireland each and every day.
That’s why our hearts beat a little faster as we hosted the Blades & Beauty Local Women Magazine Inspirational Awards at the Europa Hotel on August 20.
Thousands of nominations poured into the Local Women Magazine headquarters, highlighting the unsung work of women and teenagers from all walks of life. It was so humbling to listen to the stories of so many doing so much good without the desire for recognition.
Choosing the winners was a tough job and it was fabulous to see everyone come together in Belfast for a special day of entertainment, afternoon tea and celebrations. Thank you to everyone who joined us – thanks to our sponsors who made it possible to recognise so many amazing women, and congratulations to all the finalists and winners of the awards! You’re so fantastic in so many ways!!!
We know we weren’t the only ones who shed a tear as Northern Ireland’s very own Oscar winner James Martin embraced his mummy, the incredible Professor Suzanne Martin, who was named winner of the Editor’s Choice Award.
And don’t even get us started on Philomena Begley!!! Not only can she sing, but she can fair entertain a crowd. It’s no wonder she was our Overall Inspirational Woman of the Year!
