The original Derry Girl has dropped a brand-new single which has received the thumbs up from some unlikely famous fans!

Not only has Nadine Coyle’s spin on the Snow Patrol classic Chasing Cars received a sign of approval from her former bandmate, Nicola Roberts, it seems her fan club doesn’t just end with Girls Aloud alumni.

Nadine – who became famous when she lied about her age to appear on Irish Popstars in 2001 – has been busy on social media promoting her new tune in recent days.

Posting footage on Instagram of herself walking delightedly along the street, unable to wipe the smile from her face, she writes: “Us humbly walking into the UK top 20 iTunes chart on the first day of release!!”

In a nod of approval for the song, If I Lay Here (Chasing Cars), Nicola posted a series of sunshine, heart, music notes and dancer emojis underneath.

Now a fellow campmate from Nadine’s time on I’m A Celeb has also weighed in with some encouragement.

While it’s almost five years since the Girls Aloud songstress appeared on the ITV show in the Australian outback, it seems she has kept in touch with footballing legend Ian Wright, as he posted a swathe of heart emojis in response to her good news.

Meanwhile, the Irish singer-songwriter Samantha Mumba also took time to post: “Congrats beaut!”, followed by a flame emoji.

A separate post from the Gotta Tell You songstress enthused: “Yessssssssssssss”, with another flame emoji, while socialite Lizzie Cundy also congratulated Nadine with a round of applause.

And in an even more unlikely friendship for the former Thornhill College pupil, she has also received an enthusiastic “Love it” from Lady Victoria Hervey.

While it may seem like a surprise to some that Nadine’s post caught the eye of the aristocrat and former ‘It Girl’, it seems the pair have been friends for some years.

In fact, they were pictured together enjoying a day at a Los Angeles pool as far back as 2009.
