COLUMN: A Month of Events, Excitement and Gratitude

From golf to gardening, Miss NI Hannah Jones has had a whirlwind few weeks and has officially kicked off her Miss World preparations.

Wow, I can’t believe how quickly September has flown by! It’s been such a busy and exciting month, full of events, new experiences, and some really special moments.

The month kicked off with me working at the Irish Open for four days with ACA models at the absolutely gorgeous Royal County Down Golf Course. Honestly, I was blown away by how stunning the place is—the Mourne Mountains, the sea, and the whole atmosphere was just incredible. There was so much Northern Irish talent on show, from the golfers to the amazing local businesses involved. It made me so proud to be part of such a talented community and to showcase everything we have to offer here in Northern Ireland.

On 27th September I took part in the Turn the Peaks Pink Challenge. This event is all about raising awareness for organ donation and transplantation, and I’m so honoured to be part of it. We went out hiking and turned the peaks pink (literally) as a way to spread the message about how important organ donation is. It was such a meaningful day, and I loved the challenge.

Speaking of organ donation, another event which I really enjoyed was the New Life Garden and New Life Tree Organ Donation Event in Newtownards. It’s happened at the end of Organ Donation Week (September 22-29), and it’s was such a beautiful way to close out the week. The Council has opened the New Life Garden twice a year to the Renal and Transplant community, so people can plant flowers or bulbs to honour their donors. It’s such a touching way for people to give thanks for their gift of life or to find hope if they’re waiting for a transplant. II was a really emotional and heartfelt event, and I was thrilled to be apart of it.

On the personal front, I’ve got some exciting news—I’ve officially started my Miss World preparations! And the best part? My amazing twin sister is going to be designing one of my dresses for the Miss World 2025 stage! I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am to have her by my side for this journey. She’s such a talented fashion designer, and I know she’s going to create something absolutely stunning. We’ve decided to film the whole process, from the initial sketches to the final fitting, so you’ll get to see all the behind the scenes action. Stay tuned for that, because it’s going to be an incredible experience, and I can’t wait to share it with you all.

Looking back, September has been such a whirlwind, full of special moments and so much to look forward to. I’m feeling incredibly grateful for everything this month has brought, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
