EVERY POUND COUNTS WITH POWER TO SWITCH

NI households save £7.5M on energy bills, using Power to Switch
As the colder months set in, Northern Ireland households face rising energy costs – but Power to Switch is helping keep more money in people’s pockets. Since April 2024, the free and independent switching service has saved NI customers almost £7.3M on their energy bills.
Now, Power to Switch is stepping forward with a new look – but the mission remains the same: to stop households overpaying. By comparing every supplier in Northern Ireland, the service makes switching quick, impartial and hassle-free. On average, customers save £421 a year.
The local service is led by Aodhan O’Donnell, an experienced consumer advocate who has worked with the Consumer Council (NI), the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (IE), and at EU level.
Aodhan O’Donnell said: “Energy bills always bite harder in winter. Every pound matters, and families shouldn’t be paying more than they need to. Power to Switch exists to make it simple to see every deal in the market, fairly and upfront, and to give people the confidence to switch and save.
I’ve spent years hearing from people who feel a lack of control over their energy bills. The truth is: switching takes minutes, and the savings add up fast.”
The rebrand, launching this Autumn, brings a sharper, more confident look to reflect Power to Switch’s role as the straight-talking ally for households across NI.
