Your Next Car, Made Simple

Malcolm Beattie explains how MB Motors has become a trusted destination for women car buyers, with honest advice and zero pressure, giving you real peace of mind.
Buying a car can feel daunting, especially if you’re doing it on your own. How do you make women feel comfortable and confident from the moment they arrive at MB Motors?
One thing we are really proud of is that we are not a pushy sales team. From the moment someone arrives, we want them to feel at ease. There is no pressure, no rushing and no jargon. People are free to browse, ask questions and take their time.
A lot of our customers are women buying on their own, sometimes for the first time, and it’s really important to us that they feel listened to and respected. We focus on what they actually need, not what we want to sell them. We explain things clearly and honestly, and if someone needs time to think, that’s absolutely fine.
That trust is what brings people back. Many women come to us because a friend, sister or colleague has recommended us, and that word-of-mouth means everything.
What are women most often looking for when they come to you?
Has that changed in recent years? Price awareness has definitely increased, so cars under the £20k mark are very popular.
Beyond that, women tend to prioritise reliability, safety, running costs and comfort. They want something that fits into real life, whether that’s school runs, commuting, weekend trips or just feeling confident on the road.
SUVs are popular, especially for mums or anyone who wants a bit of height and space, but we also have a lot of demand for small, economical cars for first-time buyers.
We stock over 100 cars at any one time. You could find a first car at £4,995 or a beautiful SUV at £39,995. My aim has always been to have something for everyone who walks through the gate. Safety is a huge factor for many women.
How do you make sure every car meets your standards before it goes on sale?
Every car goes through our Bosch-approved workshop for a full vehicle health check. My rule has always been simple: anything a car needs, it gets. We want customers to drive away without worry.
We also fully prepare the car cosmetically. Alloys are refurbished, dents removed, scuffs repaired. When someone comes to view a car, it is looking its absolute best.
It’s not just about how a car looks. It’s about peace of mind. We want people to feel confident that what they’re buying has been checked, cared for and prepared properly.
What advice would you give a woman thinking about changing her car in 2026?
A car is usually the second biggest purchase you will ever make after a house, so take your time and do your homework. Be careful with cars that look unusually cheap online. They are not always what they seem.
Check Google reviews, look at social media, make sure the business is real and reputable. Unfortunately there are people out there setting up fake sites using other garages’ reviews. I’ve heard so many horror stories.
I would also encourage people to shop local. Independent garages employ local people and support the local economy. You get real accountability, real aftercare and a relationship with the people you’re buying from.
Your social media is very visible. Why is that important for women buyers?
Social media allows people to get a feel for us before they ever step on site. They can see real customers collecting cars, new stock arriving, how we operate day to day and how we treat people.
For a lot of women, that removes a layer of anxiety. They know what kind of place we are, and that makes walking through the door much easier. I’m often told, “I’ve been following you for ages,” which is lovely, because it means people already trust us before we’ve even met.
What’s the part of your job that still gives you the biggest buzz?
I love seeing a car I’ve hand-picked going out the gate to a happy customer. Even after all these years, that never gets old.
I also really enjoy our #Sourcet service, where someone tells me exactly what they want and I find it for them. It takes all the stress out of buying a car. No travelling all over the country, no endless searching. Just a simple, trusted process.
It’s a brilliant way to buy, especially for anyone who wants the experience to feel easy, straightforward and supportive.
