Some projects feel personal long before the first cabinet is built, and this stunning kitchen from Brian Dukes Kitchens was one of them.
The client, an electrician by trade, had worked alongside the Brian Dukes team on homes for years. He had seen first-hand the level of craftsmanship and attention to detail that goes into every project behind the scenes. So when the time came to create his own dream kitchen, he already knew exactly who he wanted to work with.
The vision was clear from the beginning. He wanted a kitchen with real impact. Bold and timeless and still luxurious. The result is a beautifully balanced monochrome space where dramatic contrast meets warmth and craftsmanship.
Crafted in solid ash, the cabinetry was painted in a striking black and white palette, giving the room its strong architectural feel. Brass fittings soften the darker tones and bring warmth throughout the space, adding subtle luxury without distracting from the clean design.
One of the standout elements of the project is the sense of height and scale within the room. The extra-high ceilings allowed the team to extend the cabinetry upwards, finishing the design with illuminated glazed top boxes that draw the eye upwards and create an elegant sense of symmetry.
Combined with the decorative plaster coving and statement ceiling detail above the island, the room feels grand yet still welcoming.
At the centre of the kitchen sits a large island finished with substantial 60mm quartz worktops. The thicker profile gives the island real presence within the room, transforming it from a practical workspace into a genuine focal point for family life and entertaining.
While the kitchen undoubtedly delivers visually, functionality was equally important throughout the design process.
A cleverly designed corner walk-in larder provides extensive storage while maintaining the clean lines of the main kitchen space. A concealed bi-fold breakfast station allows everyday appliances to be tucked neatly away when not in use, while an integrated drinks unit adds another layer of practicality and sophistication for entertaining.
As with every Brian Dukes Kitchens project, bespoke detail plays a huge role in the final result. Every element has been carefully considered to ensure the space feels tailored specifically to the client and the way they live.
The combination of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary styling is what gives the kitchen its timeless quality. Nothing feels trend-led or overly decorative. Instead, the focus remains on proportion, materials and finish.
The monochrome palette creates drama, while the lighting and brass accents stop the room from ever feeling cold. It is a kitchen that feels luxurious but still comfortable enough for everyday family life.
