A NEW EXHIBITION BY EMMA AND SARAH MAJURY INVITES VIEWERS TO REDISCOVER NATURE’S MAGIC

In a world that moves at an ever-increasing pace, artists and sisters Emma and Sarah Majury invite audiences to slow down, step outside, and rediscover the quiet beauty of nature in their latest exhibition, Look Up and Wonder.

Opening on 15th March at the Graffan Gallery, Castle Espie, Look Up and Wonder is an invitation to pause, breathe, and truly see the world around us. Through their evocative works, Emma and Sarah explore the power of wonder—the simple yet transformative act of looking closely and being present with nature. From the way light filters through leaves to the rhythmic crash of waves, their art captures not just landscapes but the deep sense of connection, awe, and belonging that nature inspires.

“Spending time in nature is more than a pastime; it is a necessity,” the artists explain. “It restores, inspires, and reminds us of our place within something far greater than ourselves. We hope this exhibition rekindles a sense of curiosity and reverence for the natural world.”

Visitors to Look Up and Wonder will be encouraged to step beyond screens and cityscapes and into a space where nature’s quiet magic unfolds. The exhibition aims to spark reflection and inspire a renewed appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us—if only we take the time to notice.

Emma and Sarah were both inspired and encouraged to paint by their mum, Lyn Majury. After completing degrees in Fine and Applied Art at Ulster University they have both settled in County Down where they continue their art practice. Although Lyn is no longer able to paint, due to dementia, her daughters have selected a few of her paintings to display alongside their new work.

Look Up and Wonder will be on view from 15th March to 13th April at the Graffan Gallery, Castle Espie. There will be a launch event at 11.30am on Saturday 15th, all welcome. For more information, visit https://www.wwt.org.uk/wetland-centres/castle-espie#
