Deima, the creative heart behind 7 Blooms in Ballymena, shares the story of her flower shop inspired by the town’s Seven Towers, and the joy she finds in creating bouquets that brighten people’s lives.
Can you tell us the story behind 7 Blooms?
Every flower tells a story, and so does 7 Blooms. Our journey began with a simple love for flowers – not just their beauty, but the way they can brighten a day, comfort a heart, and celebrate life’s most precious moments.
The name 7 Blooms was chosen with care, inspired by our home, Ballymena, the historic Town of the Seven Towers. Just as the towers symbolise strength, heritage, and community, our 7 Blooms represent joy, luck, and the completeness of life’s special moments.
What started as a passion for arranging flowers at home slowly blossomed into something bigger. With encouragement from family, friends, and a community that appreciates the charm of fresh blooms, 7 Blooms grew into a little flower shop with a big heart.
At 7 Blooms, we believe flowers are more than just petals and stems – they’re memories in the making. Whether it is a simple “just because” bunch, a wedding bouquet filled with love, or a thoughtful arrangement to say what words cannot, our flowers are crafted with care and creativity.
You work with both fresh and silk flowers. How do you help customers decide which option is right for them?
We only use high-quality silk flowers with lifelike textures and tones. Then, we arrange them just as we would fresh blooms – mixing shapes, sizes, and colours, and adding natural details like foliage and buds. By styling each stem carefully and giving the arrangement flow and movement, the result looks beautifully real while lasting for years.
What flowers or arrangements are proving most popular with customers at the moment? Aqua boxes are definitely a favourite. They’re fresh, fuss-free, and fabulous. Arranged in a decorative box with their own water supply, they stay fresh and beautiful without the need for a vase. Perfect for birthdays, thank-yous, or just to brighten someone’s day, aqua boxes are ready to enjoy the moment they arrive.
Do you have a favourite type of arrangement or style you love creating?
Honestly, no. We don’t have a single favourite because every arrangement is special in its own way. Each bouquet tells a different story, whether it’s a bright and cheerful gift, a romantic gesture, or something more thoughtful and comforting. We love creating them all, because every one has its own meaning and magic.
How do you keep your designs fresh and inspired throughout the year?
We stay inspired by the ever-changing seasons, the colours and textures of fresh blooms, and the unique stories our customers bring to us. We love experimenting with new flower varieties, mixing unexpected colours, and incorporating seasonal foliage to keep every arrangement feeling fresh and vibrant.
We also draw inspiration from art, nature, and the latest floral trends, while always keeping a focus on what feels natural, beautiful, and meaningful. This way, whether it’s a spring bouquet full of pastels, a bold summer arrangement, or a cosy winter display, every creation is full of life and personality.
