Confidence That Comes Naturally

Orlagh Stevenson from OS Aesthetics shares how her background in nursing inspired a calm, ethical approach to aesthetics that focuses on safety, trust and results that look beautifully natural.
How did OS Aesthetics begin, and what motivated you to start your own clinic?
I spent years as a nurse in the NHS, working in acute mental health care, supporting people at their most vulnerable. I still love nursing, but I wanted a space where I could slow things down a bit, really listen, and help people feel good in their own skin. The aesthetics world has offered that balance of clinical skill and creativity.
I started OS Aesthetics with a very clear vision of offering discreet, ethical and safe treatments to enhance rather than change, delivered in a calm, personal setting. No conveyor belt, no hard sell, just honest advice and natural results. My motto really is “When you look good, you feel good”, and by delivering aesthetic treatments, this has had a great impact on the mental health and confidence of those who have been on the receiving end of my care.
What path led you into aesthetics, and what do you find most rewarding about your work?
Being a qualified nurse prescriber with almost 15 years of nursing experience, patient safety and clinical standards have always been non-negotiable for me. I trained extensively before offering any aesthetic treatments and I continue to invest heavily in education.
What drew me in wasn’t trends or quick fixes, but the long-term impact. The most rewarding part of my work is seeing how small, well-planned changes can quietly boost someone’s confidence. Often it’s not about looking “younger”, it’s about looking less tired, more refreshed, more like themselves again.
The relationship-building aspect makes things more enjoyable. My patients are welcomed into the clinic, and I invest time and headspace into their lives and genuinely care about the various life events they experience. I love catching up with regular patients and hearing how their stories progress.
When someone visits OS Aesthetics for the first time, what kind of experience do you want them to have?
I want people to feel instantly at ease. Many people arrive feeling very anxious, unsure, with their confidence at an all-time low, and that breaks my heart. My priority is that they feel heard, respected and never pressured. Consultations are thorough and honest, and sometimes that means saying “not yet” or “you don’t need that”.
OS Aesthetics is intentionally discreet, with plenty of time and privacy. The atmosphere is calm, informal and friendly rather than clinical. People often say it feels more like a catch-up with a friend than an appointment, and that’s exactly what I aim for. I want them to feel safe in my care and give them the reassurance that they can confide in me with their insecurities knowing that I will help them address their worries.
Which treatments or skin concerns do clients come to you for most often?
The most common concerns I see are tired-looking skin, early signs of ageing, and loss of confidence rather than dramatic lines. Anti-wrinkle treatments are very popular, but generally form part of a wider plan.
Skin quality is a huge focus for me, so treatments such as skin boosters, peels and long-term skin health plans are requested just as often. I’m known for a very natural approach, so patients who are afraid of looking “done” tend to find their way to me.
What topics or insights will you be sharing in your Local Women magazine column?
My column will be fun but focused, with an educational theme and overall wellbeing rather than trends. I want to debunk some myths within aesthetics, explain what treatments actually do, and help people make informed decisions.
I’ll be talking about skin health, the importance of good consultations, realistic expectations, and how to spot safe, ethical practice in an unregulated industry. I’ll also touch on confidence, self-image, and why aesthetics should never be about fixing flaws, but about supporting how you want to feel.
Looking ahead, what plans or goals do you have for OS Aesthetics this year?
This year for me is about growth with integrity. I’m expanding into educational work, including mentoring and training for other aesthetic practitioners, particularly clinicians who have recently entered the industry and want to be able to proceed confidently with support and build their own empires.
I’m also developing more clinical skills and treatment options for people to target more specific areas. OS Aesthetics will continue to evolve, but the heart of it will stay the same: safe practice, natural results and putting people before procedures.
