Growing Together at Blades & Beauty

Catriona Channing reflects on the realities of running a family business, the support that makes it possible, and why now is an exciting time to join the growing Blades & Beauty team.
Thank goodness summer is here.
I have so many thoughts running through my head after a busy few months in the salon, attending award ceremonies, and juggling family life as a mother and now a grandmother.
I want this column to be as honest as possible. Being a business owner is always a gamble. It takes everything you have physically, emotionally and financially. You have to decide when it is the right time to try new ideas and balance that against what is best for the business. There are no sick days and no one else to blame when things go wrong, but I would not change it for the world.
The path I have taken as an entrepreneur has given me opportunities I never imagined. It has allowed me to meet incredible people, experience amazing opportunities and help others along the way.
Blades & Beauty has been busier and more vibrant than ever recently, and I am so proud of the atmosphere we have created. The salon is full of energy, creativity and laughter, with an amazing and loyal client base that continues to grow month after month.
Because of this exciting growth, I have decided to expand the team and create opportunities for talented professionals who are ready to take the next step in their careers.
I also want to take a moment to reflect on how grateful I am to my loving family, my staff, and of course our wonderful customers and friends who have supported our family business throughout the years.
If you have ever dreamed of being your own boss, Blades & Beauty could be the perfect place to make that happen. I can offer mentorship, support and the benefit of my experience in an ever-changing industry.
Joining the Blades & Beauty team means becoming part of something exciting. From award ceremonies and press opportunities to social media collaborations, podcast features with the amazing Local Women team, and being part of a salon that truly champions growth and confidence, there are so many opportunities to develop both personally and professionally.
Competition is not something I focus on. Growing, evolving and lifting others up has always been my mantra.

Have a lovely June.
