Invest in Yourself!

From struggles with her weight and self-image to becoming the best version of herself, personal trainer Emma Clarke knows what it feels like to start from scratch. Now, through her coaching, she’s helping women build confidence, strength, and balance – in the gym and beyond.
What Inspired You to Become a Personal Trainer?
Emma shares:
“My fitness journey actually started in lockdown – not the first one, not the second one, but the third time really was the charm. For years, I’d look in the mirror or see photos and instead of remembering the moment, I’d remember how unhappy I felt in my own skin. I kept thinking, if I just change this or that, maybe I’ll be good enough, maybe he’ll like me, maybe I’ll finally be happy.”
Like many, she tried every “quick fix” – cutting calories super low, working out obsessively, then burning out and raiding the cupboards. But none of it worked.
“One day I woke up and thought: enough. I was done treating my body badly, done trying to change for someone else. I wanted to feel good for me. That shift changed everything. I fell in love with exercise – not as punishment, but as a way of moving, challenging, and respecting my body. And once I felt that freedom, I knew I wanted to help others feel it too. That’s why I became a trainer.”
Training Style and Approach
Emma describes her coaching style as empowering and structured but never restrictive.
“I focus on building strength and confidence – both physically and mentally. I’m a big believer in lifting heavy, moving with intention, and pushing past your limits while still respecting recovery and balance.”
Her sessions combine motivation, honesty, and fun. She checks in with clients daily to ensure they’re supported, not just handed a plan and left to figure it out.
“I see training, nutrition, and mindset like a pyramid. If the mindset isn’t right, nothing else falls into place. When you’re thriving mentally, that’s when everything else clicks.”
Common Goals Clients Work Toward
Most people come to Emma because they want to feel like themselves again.
- Losing weight
- Gaining strength
- Building gym confidence
“At the root, it’s really about reconnecting with that strong, confident version of themselves.”
Helping Beginners Build Confidence
For many beginners, the gym feels intimidating.
Emma reassures them with structured guidance:
“So many of my clients start out terrified of the gym floor. They’ll stick to treadmills or the corner because they don’t know what to do. But that’s where I step in – to show them how to lift safely, to build up their confidence set by set. The gym becomes less scary and more of a space where they feel like they belong.”
Why Emma’s Coaching Works
Emma’s philosophy isn’t about quick fixes – it’s about lasting change. Her coaching helps women build both inner and outer strength, empowering them to see their worth, love their bodies, and push past limits they never thought possible.
