“Will I Go Orange?”
This is hands down the most common question I get. And honestly? No, not if you follow the right prep and product advice. The tanning world has come a long way since the infamous “Ross from Friends” episode.
Gone are the days of patchy, biscuit-scented disasters. Today’s formulas — like the ones we use in our clinic — are skin-focused, nourishing, and designed to complement your natural tone. If your tan’s turning orange, chances are something went wrong with the prep or the product wasn’t a great match.
Prep Like a Pro
Here’s the golden rule: moisturise early, not late. Start hydrating your skin in the days leading up to your appointment. Exfoliate and shave at least 24 hours before your tan to avoid patchiness and blocked pores.
And one more thing — no deodorant or moisturiser on the day. These can mess with the tan formula and leave you with tell-tale green underarms. Not a vibe.
SPF is Still a Must
Yes, you can still burn with a spray tan. While a tan may look like sun protection, it absolutely isn’t. Always apply an SPF — just make sure it’s not oil-based, as that can interfere with your tan and make it fade unevenly.
