The Only Injector This Skin Expert Trusts Is Dr Peter Murphy

Kerry Patterson is a nurse injector herself. So when it comes to her own face, she is selective. The only person she trusts is Dr Peter Murphy at The Aesthetics Skin Clinic.
Murphy at The Aesthetics Skin Clinic for many years. Despite working in aesthetics herself, she chooses to sit in his chair for her own treatments.
“He’s warm and professional, but more than that, he just gets it. He understands what I’m thinking before I even say it. That’s rare.”
For Kerry, subtlety matters. She does not believe in dramatic change or obvious work. Her approach is what she describes as “little and often” – small, subtle tweaks that maintain structure and freshness without altering her natural features.
“I don’t like the overdone look. It never have. There are two types of women, those who do nothing and those who choose to do something. If you’re going to do something, you need the right practitioner. Your face is in their hands.”
She attends Dr Murphy for dermal filler and, more recently, skin boosters. A key focus for her has been cheek volumisation.
“As a woman, when you are over 50, oestrogen leaves the building! The shows over for oestrogen and the face does start to fall slightly. That’s just biology.”
Trust Matters in Aesthetic Treatment
As a medical aesthetic practitioner, Kerry Patterson understands better than most that your face is not something to hand over lightly.
“I’m very fussy about who touches my face,” she says. “As an injector myself, I know what can go wrong. You have to completely trust the person treating you. For me, that person is Peter.”
Kerry, 60, who owns Skin Lab NI in Belmont, has been attending Dr Peter Murphy for many years.
Understanding Facial Volume Loss
According to Kerry, understanding volume loss is where many practitioners go wrong.
“Unfortunately, a lot of injectors place filler in the middle of the cheek, which can make the face look heavy. Peter doesn’t do that. He understands facial anatomy and age-related volume loss. He knows exactly where to place it.”
The result, she says, is never obvious.
“It’s subtle. No one ever knows what I’ve had done. There’s no chipmunk look, no heaviness. I just look fresher. That’s the goal.”
Knowing When to Stop
For Kerry, what sets Dr Murphy apart is his understanding of restraint.
“He knows when to stop. He knows what suits your face. He’s not trying to create a trend or a template. He’s preserving what’s already there.”
As someone who works within the industry every day, Kerry sees first-hand how important experience and judgement are in aesthetic medicine.
“Volume loss is the issue as we age. If you don’t understand that properly, you can’t treat it properly. Peter truly understands it. That’s why I wouldn’t go anywhere else.”
