Returning to Local Women as a columnist, hair loss specialist and founder of iHobbs Salon and Training Academy in Derry, Sandra Atogwe shares how her salon has evolved into a centre of compassion and transformation — helping women regain not just their hair, but their confidence and sense of self.

People often ask me, “Sandra, what exactly do you do?”

It’s a fair question. From the outside, iHobbs looks like a hair salon. But what we do goes far beyond styling hair.

Yes, we offer hair extensions and non-surgical hair replacement systems. But at our core, we are in the business of rebuilding confidence. Our work transforms lives. For many of our clients, it’s not just about how they look. It’s about how they feel when they walk out the door.

Hair loss affects women in ways most people don’t understand. It can be caused by stress, illness, hormones or other personal battles. By the time women come to iHobbs, many have lost more than just hair. They’ve lost confidence, identity and in some cases, hope.

This business is rooted in purpose. I didn’t just want to run a salon. I wanted to create a safe space for women who feel invisible. I wanted to combine technical skill with real empathy. My background in health and social work shaped the way I built this brand. We are structured, ethical and driven by excellence. But we are also deeply human.

As I return to write columns again for this magazine after a few years away, I do so with a clearer vision. iHobbs is growing. We have a full academy, a product line and a team of trained professionals who share the same mission.
