Get Smile Ready for Your Big Day

Planning a wedding in 2026? The countdown is on! And it’s not just the dress, the flowers and the venue that matter. Your smile will be in every photo, so now is the perfect time to start preparing. Maebh Owens of Ebrington Dental shares her timeline for achieving a picture-perfect smile.
Why Smile Prep Matters
If you’re engaged and planning a summer wedding in 2026, believe it or not, the preparations for your smile should start now. All eyes will be on you on your big day so you will want a smile that gives you poise and perfect confidence.
Every bride and groom is different, which is why at Ebrington Dental we take the time to create bespoke smile plans to suit you. Whether it’s a simple whitening treatment or a full smile makeover, the key is starting early so we can achieve the best possible results for your big day.
12–18 Months Before the Wedding
This is the ideal time to consider orthodontic treatments such as clear aligners or braces if you want to straighten your teeth. Many brides and grooms are surprised at how quickly results can be achieved with modern systems, but starting early gives you options.
9–12 Months Before
Book a comprehensive dental check-up. We’ll make sure your teeth and gums are healthy, deal with any existing issues and create a treatment plan tailored to your goals. If veneers, bonding or implants are being considered, now is the time to begin.
6 Months Before
Whitening should be on your to-do list. Professional whitening is safe, effective and predictable. Starting six months ahead allows time to reach your perfect shade without rushing, and ensures any sensitivity can be managed well in advance.
3 Months Before
It’s all about refinement. Treatments like composite bonding can be used to smooth out small imperfections or chips. Lip fillers or smile-adjacent tweaks (if you’re considering them) also work well around this stage, giving results that will look natural and settled by the big day.
2–4 Weeks Before
Time for a final polish. Book a hygiene visit for a deep clean and stain removal. It will make your teeth sparkle and give you that extra boost of confidence.
Wedding Week
Avoid staining foods and drinks like red wine, curries and black coffee as much as possible. Use a straw where you can, and keep up your brushing and flossing routine. By now, your smile will be ready to shine in every photograph.
Every bride and groom deserves to feel confident on their wedding day. With the right timeline, your smile will be as memorable as the occasion itself.
