Feel Better, Move Better with Recovery Zone

From expert sports massage to cold plunges, saunas and compression boots, the team at Recovery Zone explain why their purpose-built Galgorm Castle facility is fast becoming the go-to destination for anyone who wants to ease pain, improve mobility and recover properly.
For anyone who hasn’t discovered Recovery Zone yet, what exactly do you offer?
Recovery Zone is a specialist recovery and sports massage clinic based at Galgorm Castle, and we’ve created a space where people can genuinely feel better in their bodies. We offer sports massage, dry cupping, dry needling, compression boot therapy, and access to our dedicated recovery suite, which includes traditional saunas and cold plunge pools. What makes us different is that it’s not just about one treatment. It’s about helping people recover properly, stay on top of aches and pains, and feel stronger day to day.
Is Recovery Zone just for athletes and gym people?
Not at all, and that’s one of the biggest misconceptions we hear. Yes, we work with runners, gym members and people who train regularly, but plenty of our clients are busy mums, people with physically demanding jobs, office workers with tight shoulders and backs, or anyone who just feels stiff, sore or run down. You do not need to be an athlete to benefit from recovery. If your body feels tight, tired or uncomfortable, we can help.
What makes your new Galgorm Castle space so special?
Moving to Galgorm Castle has been a huge step for us. We outgrew our original space, and we wanted to create something bigger, better and purpose-built. Our new unit at The Courtyard gives clients access to a proper recovery experience in a calm, modern environment. We now have a full recovery suite with two traditional saunas, two cold plunge pools, changing facilities for men and women, and a welcoming reception area where clients can relax before or after treatment. It feels professional, but it’s also really approachable and friendly.
What are people most surprised by when they come?
Honestly, how good they feel afterwards. A lot of people book in because they’ve got a niggle, tight hamstrings, shoulder tension, lower back discomfort, or they just know they need a reset. Then they leave saying they didn’t realise how much tension they’d been carrying until it was gone. We hear that all the time. People are also surprised by how much they enjoy the recovery suite. The sauna and cold plunge combination can make such a difference to soreness, circulation, energy levels and even sleep.
What does a sports massage at Recovery Zone actually involve?
Every treatment is tailored. Before we start, we chat through what’s going on, whether that’s a training issue, an injury, or just general tension. We then adapt the treatment to suit the person, including pressure levels, so clients always feel comfortable and in control. Some people come in for a targeted 30-minute appointment for one problem area, while others book 60 or 90 minutes for a more thorough full-body reset. It’s never a one-size-fits-all treatment, and that’s why it works so well.
Compression boots have become really popular. Why do people love them?
Compression boots have been a brilliant addition. They’re especially popular with runners, gym-goers and anyone dealing with heavy, tired legs. The boots inflate and deflate in cycles, applying controlled pressure from the toes right up the legs. That helps improve circulation, reduce soreness and support faster recovery. Some people love them because they’re so effective, and others love them because they’re a gentler option than deep tissue work. They’re also amazing after a sports massage if you really want to maximise recovery.
How often should someone book in?
It depends on what they need. If someone is dealing with an injury or a stubborn issue, weekly or fortnightly sessions can be really helpful until things settle. For general maintenance, we usually recommend every four to six weeks. The biggest thing we say is don’t wait until you’re in real discomfort. Recovery works best when you stay on top of it. Prevention is always easier than repair.
If someone is reading this and thinking, “I probably need that,” what would you say?
Do it. Most people wait too long. They push through pain, ignore tightness, or tell themselves they’ll sort it later. Then they come in and wish they’d booked sooner. Whether you want to move better, sleep better, recover faster or simply feel less stiff and sore, we can help. You don’t have to be injured, and you don’t have to be sporty. If you want to feel better in your body, that’s reason enough.
