Helping Women Feel Like Themselves Again

Karen Harkin, founder of KHG Hair Systems in Lifford, shares why helping women regain confidence through hair loss solutions has become her true passion.

After years in hairdressing, Karen Harkin thought she already knew what she loved most about the industry. But over the last few years, the owner of KHG Hair Systems in Lifford has discovered an entirely new passion: helping women experiencing hair loss, thinning hair and confidence issues feel like themselves again.

Speaking to Karen, it’s immediately obvious how much this work means to her. Gentle and warm, she talks less about business and more about people. About confidence and the emotions she sees in women when they finally look in the mirror and recognise themselves again.

“I do this because I know how life-changing it is when a woman sees herself again, not a version of her, but her,” Karen says.

During Covid, Karen began noticing more women struggling with hair loss and thinning hair. Since then, she has immersed herself in learning everything she possibly can, sourcing products, adapting techniques and finding solutions that genuinely help people.

What matters most to Karen is making women feel comfortable enough to reach out in the first place.

“A lot of women suffer quietly,” she says. “They lose confidence and think they just have to live with it. I want people to know there are options and there is help available.”

At KHG Hair Systems, every client experience is personal and private. Karen takes time to understand what each woman needs, creating natural-looking results designed to restore not just hair, but confidence too.

Clients often tell her the biggest difference is how deeply she cares.

“It makes me feel 100 feet tall when I can help someone feel good about themselves again,” Karen says.

“That moment when somebody smiles and you can see their confidence returning, that’s the best feeling in the world.”

For Karen, this isn’t simply about hair transformations. It’s about helping women walk a little taller, feel more comfortable in themselves and know they don’t have to go through hair loss alone.
