Same Roots, New Name

Award-winning curl specialist Ciara McCloskey shares why her salon’s rebrand to The Curl Spa by Ciara is about more than a new name. It is a reflection of the specialist care, luxury and confidence she has always wanted every client to feel.

When I first opened my salon, it was called The Hair Studio. It was a space created for all hair types, and at the time, that felt right. But even then, I knew I wanted it to be more than just somewhere people came to get their hair done.

My journey had already started long before I opened the salon, through training in the United States and the Cayman Islands, and through experiencing beautiful spa environments around the world. I fell in love with that feeling of calm and being truly cared for, and I always knew I wanted to bring that into my own space.

Over time, something changed naturally.

Through word of mouth and real results, more and more of my clients were women with curly hair. Eventually I realised that almost everyone coming through my door was curly. It was no longer about being everything to everyone. It became about specialising in what I truly loved, and what I had become known for.

Curls have always been my passion. Helping women understand their hair, care for it properly and feel confident in it is something I never take for granted. So many women have spent years feeling frustrated by their curls, or feeling like their hair was difficult or misunderstood. I wanted to create a space where that changed.

That is really where The Curl Spa by Ciara was born.

The new name reflects what the salon has naturally grown into.

It is still the same business, with the same care and the same passion, but now the name truly fits the experience I have worked so hard to create. What began as a full-service salon has evolved into something more intentional and more specialised.

At The Curl Spa by Ciara, every appointment is about personalised curl care in a calm, welcoming, spa-like environment. Every service is tailored to the individual, combining specialist curl knowledge with treatments designed to support healthy, defined hair.

My focus has always been on long-term results, not just how your hair looks when you leave the salon, but how you feel about it afterwards, and how confident you are caring for it yourself.

One thing that has stayed the same throughout all of this is my palm tree logo.

That palm tree has been part of the brand from the very beginning, and it means so much to me. It was inspired by my time living in the Caribbean, which gave me such a love for warmth, calm and that feeling of escape. But it also represents something deeper. A palm tree can bend in the harshest storms without breaking, and to me that symbolises resilience and strength.

I think that meaning is important, not just for me and my business, but for the women who come through the door too. So often, embracing your natural hair is part of embracing yourself. It is about confidence, self-acceptance and learning to see your beauty in a new way.

So yes, the name has changed. But the heart of the business has not.

It is still about expert curl care, still about helping women feel understood, and still about creating a space where you can slow down and feel looked after.

New name. Same roots.
Stronger than ever.
